Justification

Using the above mentioned ICT tools, it complements the learning of the students greatly.

With Versal, the flow within the lesson is smooth as the learners will not get distracted by other features.

With Padlet, the learners can easily upload the images onto the shared space neatly with the already made columns, and also look at their fellow learners' images and thoughts easily.

With the Wix Forum, learners can easily navigate through the created forums to share their experiences followed by the working with their fellow peers to identify the aims from the scenarios created themselves. The comment function comes in handy where learners can easily comment directly on that particular post.

Of course with Wix itself, I chose this platform as the design helps the learners navigate easily and the aesthetics appeal to them too. The buttons and links are foolproof in the sense that if the learner missed out a particular lesson or isn't sure of where to go, each page on both the "Lessons" and "Post-Lesson" tabs on the ribbon have links that are easily identified and will bring the learner to where they should head to.

These tools help greatly to organize the flow of learning for the learners by creating shared platforms for discussion and viewing of their fellow learners' thoughts through images, thus achieving the set learning objectives.

Reflection

Teaching a physical skill online? Through a computer? No physical teacher or students? That was my initial worry when I was brainstorming on what and how to teach this life-saving skill. I then decided that it would be good to teach why First Aid (FA) is so important and the principles of it too. With the abundance of information and videos on the Internet, sharing the importance of First Aid is easy. I decided to show both the "what if there isn't FA in the world?" and "why it is good to know FA" to evoke both the jittery-guilty and courageous-hero respectively feelings in the learners to begin this whole journey.

I began the pre-lesson with the prior knowledge of First Aid of the learners and asking them for their feelings about the importance of First Aid by getting them to relate the video shown where a relative was the one that collapsed. Also, asking them what the green cross is to them and also that actually, everyone can do First Aid because it is in our blood!

Moving on to the actual lesson, I began with showing a video about the obvious bad example of assessing a FA situation, learners then have to categorize the actions from the video correctly, which is pretty obvious. Afterwards, I got them to figure out 2 aims of FA and their responses should overlap or be very similar with the actual 4 aims of FA. Then, I got them to choose an image that they feel represent each aim on the Padlet. This helps with their learning as they have to decide which image best fits and this will have a deeper impact on their learning as they themselves chose this image that links that aim in their brain.

The consolidation of all the learning is through the personal reflection/sharing of an experience and also the group activity for scenarios. These learners begin with the personal sharing because they can start simple by recalling an experience, then by sharing how they felt and what they could have done after learning the 4 aims of FA. This way, they can remember the aims better as its linked very closely to them emotionally. They can then use their imagination and creativity to come up with a FA scenario. Afterwards, they will work together with 2 other learners to study the case study created by their other learners to identify their allocated aim. This activity really helps consolidate their learning from the previous lessons as they revisit what was shared in the lesson and can implement it to use while working with others to tackle any difficulty if any.

The last forum "Beyond Today" lets the learners see if there are any fellow learners that have the same interest as them and from there, can pursue their common interest together. It also lets the learners expand their knowledge by looking at what interests others and might arose their own curiosity and in turn, self-search about that particular topic.

I firmly believe in always knowing the "why" of every and any action we all do, as such, I chose the importance of FA as the first thing the learners see to hopefully let them see the importance of learning this skill too. The "how" and "what" is then shared in the lessons, which should be easy to learn and understand once you achieve the "why".

Both a benefit and limitation of my site would be that its mostly online activities, introverts would rejoice while kinesthetic learners might get bored easily. However, I made a balance and also an option where there is an activity that requires team work. For the forum, the learners are to work in groups of 3 to identify the aim from the scenario created by the other learners. This would mean that the 3 would have to communicate and there is the freedom of either online discussion or physical meet-up on their own initiative that is comfortable for everyone.
