Luckily for me, my friend went to call a teacher nearby to help me. They both brought me to the Sick Bay in the General Office where the teacher helped me wash my wounds and patched them up.
However during the fall, I fell on my side which caused an abrasion which I didn't know formed. It formed on my hip and was itchy the whole day so I scratched it unconsciously, thinking it was just a normal itch. Until when I got home and went to bathe, I saw a bloody patch on the inside of my uniform and saw the neglected injury. It was definitely infected and also aggravated from my constant scratching and friction from my clothes the whole day.
Looking back at this memory, I am thankful for the first aid given by the teacher. Indeed, she met the 4 aims:
1. Preserve Life - she immediately brought me to the office to treat my wounds
2. Promote recovery from injury - she didn't let me do any other vigorous activity afterwards
3. Prevent injury from worsening - she cleaned my wound to prevent infection
4. Provide comfort - knowing it was my first fall, she was very patient and spoke comforting words to me
What could have been done from this incident was to properly assess myself for any other injuries.
I choose "Provide Comfort" as the feeling of pain was forgotten when the teacher assured me that I was fine and cared for me at that moment.
